We were saddened to learn about the passing of friend Bob Connell, who died Monday, May 31, 2010 at Prairie Pines Lodge in Chadron. He was 93.
Robert E. “Bob” Connell was born in Whitney on April 5, 1917. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Connell of Chadron; daughter, Vicki Ann (Keith Kay) Connell of Athens, GA; and a sister, Betty Thompson of Bismarck, ND. A memorial fund has been established for the Paul Jo Connell Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Chadron United Methodist Church. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
Bob was one of the few remaining old timers who grew up in Whitney in the 1920s and ‘30s. He and his wife, Ruth Ann, have been instrumental in providing so much of the information and many of the photographs that are included in Whitney Reflections -- and Whitney Reflections Gallery.
Sadly, we add this photo as we bid “73’s” to fellow amateur radio operator (WD0AES) Bob Connell. Our condolences to Ruth Ann and the Connell family.
