At first glance, the landscape of Whitney, Nebraska is not unlike many other communities on the great plains. However, the origin of Whitney was a bit unusual, and we hope to share its story here.
Its location near railroad and highway routes gave the community early hopes that it would soon flourish.
This website is envisioned to be more than just a collection of nostalgic information, although it is created with affection for the early pioneers and citizens who became residents of Whitney. We’ll continue to add information and photographs that visitors might find of interest. Too, we trust that it’ll be a helpful tool for history buffs, genealogists, and folks who just enjoy good stories!
